"En una noche fría de Londres, Stella McCartney invitó a unos cuantos amigos (ustedes saben, Kate Moss, Rihanna, Mario Testino y prácticamente a todos los editores más importantes del mundo de la moda) a una vieja iglesia en Mayfair. Estábamos todos sentados, cenando comida vegetariana (por supuesto), y de repente hubo un show mágico. Alexa Chung levitó en las puntas de unas espadas. Fue genial. A esta cena/show de magia/fashion dance mob, asistieron celebridades como Alexa Chung, Alison Mosshart, Kate Moss, Amber Valetta, Shalom Harlow, Mario Testino, así como editores importantes del mundo de la moda. Comenzando con champagne seguido de una cena vegetariana, comenzó un pequeño show de magia en el que hipnotizaron a Chung y la hicieron echarse en una cama de espadas. Luego partió el fashion dance mob en el que se mostró la colección cápsula de invierno 2012. Pueden verlo a continuación!
Si bien en la descripción del video (subido por Derek Blasberg) claramente dice que la forma en que él lo grabó no hace justicia a lo buena que fue la presentación, vale haber capturado el momento y mostrarnos como se vivió desde adentro. Y aunque me pareció algo incómodo al principio, es una muy buena y creativa propuesta para mostrar una colección de moda, en la que se pueda ver como funcionan los outfits en completo movimiento (Sobre todo para que los editores tengan una mejor idea de como se moverán las prendas a la hora de usarlas en editoriales). Se imaginan estar ahí? Sentados esperando que comience el show y de repente: modelos bailando y posando! Sin duda marca una pauta para que los demás diseñadores también se pongan creativos a la hora de mostrar sus colecciones. ¿Les gustó o prefieren que los fashion shows sean como siempre? Espero que salga la version completa y en mejor resolución más adelante!

We were all sitting pretty, eating vegetarian food (of course), and then there was a magic show. Alexa Chung levitated on the tips of swords. It was cool. And then there was a scream, and the flash dance began. What followed was an epic fashion moments of professional dancing and supermodel Vogue-ing. Amber and Shalom even did a walk off on chairs. Like so many videos attempting to capture a bit of glamour, this one doesn't do the moment justice. But at least it's a view into a fabulous fashion experience. Well done, Stella." -Derek Blasberg
This event was hosted to mark the 2012 London Olympics since Stella McCartney is the Creative Director for Team Adidas GB, having designed all the british athletes uniforms and another collection for the local fans. A bunch of A-list celebrities attended this Dinner/Magic Show/Fashion Dance Mob affair including the likes of Alexa Chung, Alison Mosshart, Amber Valetta, Shalom Harlow, Mario Testino, Kate Moss, and well pretty much every important editor in fashion as Blasberg stated in his video description. After the dinner, a small magic show began, where Alexa Chung was hypnotized and made her levitate atop a bed of swords. Then, the dance mob began, featuring McCartney's capsule Winter 2012 collection (watch the video above).
It's clearly stated that the way that this fashion show was captured doesn't make justice to how good this show was (according to Derek Blasberg), but it's worth to have it captured for us to have a glimpse from the insider point of view. Even though I found it awkward at the beginning (aren't all flash mobs awkward?) it's a very different and creative way to show a collection, allowing the editors a first look of how the garments will move for editorials. Besides that fact, it also seem a lot of fun! Can you imagine being there? Just sitting, waiting for the show to start and bam! Models dancing and posing. It definitely sets a mark for other designers and how they decide to show their collections. I just hope now the fokes at Stella McCartney upload the complete show so everyone can see. I mean, I wanna see Alexa levitating!
